With my kayak and gear all taken care of by Seaswift, all I have to do was take care of myself, that being making my way back.
So it was on a plane today for a flight to the capital of the Torres Straits, Thursday/Horn Island to catch up with Garth and Peita and spend a few days with them.
On the flight with me was some very special cargo, five massive mud crabs that I bought for Garth from the PNG that people came over to Saibai Island each day to sell their wares. All I had to do was to get Quarantine to check them (no mud on them) before I boarded my flight.
Flying from Saibai Island and over the Torres Straits, I looked out over the water that only a few days earlier I was paddling in, made me realise that I finally achieved my dream, and that put a smile on my face.
Garth was rapt about the mud crabs and cooked them up straight away, so you know what we had for dinner tonight. A claw off the mud crabs almost covered a dinner plate!
